Keeping your Sweet Tooth in check

Now pregnant with my second child I am unfortunately craving sweet food. I have never had a sweet tooth before and it really is hard to resist all those yummy cakes and sweets. I am trying very hard not to put on 20kg with this baby like I did with my first so I have been researching healthy ways to fix these cravings.

I have found 5 things that have helped to stop these cravings.

1. 2 x Ryvitas with cottage cheese drizzled with honey (calories per serve 124)
Cottage cheese is a good low calorie option and goes well with honey

2. A bowl of fruit salad
Apart form satisfying sweet cravings, you will also receive a hit of essential vitamins and minerals
   (calories per server 124)

3.  1 Slice of rye bread, toasted and topped with a table spoon of honey and half a banana.
Rye bread is high in fibre and considered a good source of magnesium (calories per serve 215

4. 3/4 of a cup of cooked oats, prepared with low fat milk, topped with 8 raspberries and drizzle of honey. Oats are full of fibre and are known to keep you fuller for longer. (Calories per server 141)

5. Date and Almond Energy Balls
Made with cinnamon honey and raw almonds these are sweet enough with out sugar. (calories per ball 100) Recipe to come.

These 5 things have so far been helping to keep me away from donuts and chocolate and are great for keeping that  sweet tooth in check. Also I don't allow myself to go grocery shopping while I am hungry. I do allow my self a treat once a week because you have to be naughty sometimes :)

Face Saver Testimonials

Here are a few testimonials for Neat Face Saver:

I found this product yesterday at a Walmart. I didn't even know if things like this existed, but had planned to start an online search. I take a medication that causes excessive sweating, even in the dead of winter. It is SO embarrassing! I'm 30 and look like I'm going through early menopause! I have a trip to Disney coming up in May, and the idea of dealing with this problem there is mortifying. Day one went very well, and I am incredibly thankful for this product. For me it needs refreshed at least once a day, but that matters nothing given the results.

Love this its a great primer for makeup! and im sure its helping make my pores look smaller which is a big bonus

By Holly

I absolutely LOVE this product! I come from a long line of super sweaters, and this really does help. I also have the redness from rosacea when I get hot (not the acne though), and this does not irritate the skin on my face at all. I'm SO GLAD I found this product. I hope they NEVER stop making it!

By Janice

I am so happy I found this! GREAT PRODUCT, I'm stocking up! I've been testing it all day! I live in az. Wouldn't matter though, I get facial sweat from someone looking at me- I went and sat in my black car that has been in the sun all day- I didn't sweat. This will really change my life, I always avoid everything outside, too embarrassing. I am super grateful and now I can start to live again!

How to keep your make-up from running

I am a serious sweater and it can be extremely annoying when I have just done my makeup. There is nothing worse than having your makeup run down your face and turning up to a function or meeting and trying to save your make-up. That was until I found Neat Face Saver Gel. This Product is awesome, has helped to prevent my face sweating and gives me more confidence when going into a function.

What is Face Saver Gel?

Neat Face Saver Gel has been developed as a lightweight, gel formulation which is best applied before other facial cosmetics, but may be applied at any time. The antiperspirant gel formulation of Neat Face Saver Gel evaporates rapidly from the surface of the skin leaving the active, antiperspirant ingredient as a thin film whose antiperspirant effect will last for several hours. The product will not affect the production of perspiration from the scalp, but it will help to decrease the amount of perspiration visible on the face. Similarly, the beads of sweat that can form on the upper lip during tense business meetings are much less likely to occur.

How to use Face Saver Gel?

Neat Face Saver Gel should be applied to the forehead, the upper lip and the back of the neck. It should not be applied on or near the eyes, and it should not be applied to the scalp. The product does not appear to cause any reactions with other cosmetic ingredients, and it is entirely safe to use. As with all antiperspirants and cosmetics, there is a slight risk of an allergic reaction to one or other of the product's ingredients, but this will settle when use of the product is stopped.

  • Prevents excess facial perspiration
  • Reduces excess facial wetness and shine
  • Can be applied before makeup
  • Light gel leaves no facial residue, no deposit, no stickiness
  • Easy and smooth to apply
  • Makeup and sunscreens stay on longer
  • Keeps makeup looking fresh all day even in hot weather
  • Available in Walgreen Stores in the Deodorant section
  •
Neat Face Saver is used by people working in warm climates, sportspeople and people who perspire more freely than others. It is particularly useful for those people that suffer the embarrassment of having facial perspiration dripping down the forehead. .

When Neat Face Saver Gel is applied prior to other cosmetics, the second product will remain on the skin for much longer and will be less influenced by facial perspiration. This is particularly helpful for sunscreens and other such products which are required to remain on the skin for as long as possible.

    Importance of eating breakfast

I have a friend that is trying to lose some extra kilos and asked for some tips.(I do have permission to blog about her ) I know for a fact she has never eaten breakfast and has always struggled with losing weight. She is very determined this time so she is going to really try to start her day the right way.

Here is why it is so important to eat breakfast:

Everyone knows that the key to successful weight loss is a combination of regular exercise, healthy eating and a positive mind. There’s no point working out five days a week if you’re going to give in to temptation and inhale three kebabs and a packet of Tim Tams when you get home.
Healthy eating doesn’t necessarily mean dieting, it refers instead to eating sensible, balanced amounts of the right foods at the right times – and that includes a good breakfast.
There’s a reason why people have said for many years that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”. After six, seven or eight hours – if you’re lucky – of sleep, your body and brain need some fuel to power and prepare them for the day ahead. Like a car, you can’t run on an empty tank, you need some petrol.

It’s a well known fact that people who eat breakfast lose more weight than people who don’t and this is due to several reasons:

    1. Breakfast provides the energy your body requires in order to perform activities. Therefore, you’re not so tired and can do more.
    2. It kickstarts the body into producing the enzymes needed to metabolise fat, helping to shed the pounds.
    3. Eating a good breakfast keeps you full for longer and may make you less likely to reach for snacks.
In addition, breakfast is generally good for you. Those who eat breakfast are 50 per cent less likely to have blood sugar problems. Also they have a decreased risk of developing diabetes or having high cholesterol levels which could lead to heart disease. Also, some breakfast foods such as grains, seeds and dried fruit provide vitamins and minerals that are hard to find in other foods.
People who don’t eat breakfast often complain that it’s “too early” to eat or that they don’t have time in the morning. Excuses! Ways to rectify this include not eating too late the evening before, going to bed earlier or eating breakfast on the train/ bus on the way to work.

Who wouldn’t want to eat breakfast with such an array of delicious morning munchies options available?  Try some of these:

Make your own muesli by toasting some oats, then adding seeds, nuts and fruit as desired. Slice a banana on top, garnish with blueberries and pour on some yoghurt. This high fibre option will keep you full until lunchtime and the nutrients derived from the seeds, nuts and fruit will do all sorts of good.

Alternatively, how about blasting lots of lovely fruit up into a smoothie, which you could drink on the way to work? Smoothies are far more filling than you might imagine and allow you to be really creative. Experiment with flavour combinations, thin out a little with water, milk, fruit juice or low-fat yoghurt and enjoy.

For traditionalists, two slices of wholemeal bread with a scraping of butter and some Vegemite or a bowl of whole-grain cereal is fine. Top with honey or dried fruit for sugar and splash over some semi-or skimmed milk to reduce the refined sugar and fat content.

To say breakfast is the “most important” meal of the day underplays how significant it really is. Providing energy, nutrients and warding off chronic conditions, can you really afford not to eat it?
